In the Winter semester of 2007&08 Greifswald University ran a very successful lecture course called "Star Trek and the Sciences". Professors from the various fields taught at Greifswald University contributed to the success by sharing their special insights into Star Trek - be it Physics, Bioethics or History.
A group of Trekkies and Trekkers thought it would be fun to add their own creativity to the Trek-Universe and - voilà - in the winter semester of 2008&09 we found about 30 enthusiastic students who braved the cold winter temperatures and all the challenges that come with making a fan film as amateurs.
STAR TREK: TO THE RES-Q tells the story of all five captains who are summoned by Q to Greifswald to save themselves - and the Star Trek Universe - from oblivion. Naturally, that is only possible with the help of Greifswald students, both in the movie and in the real production process. A Borg chased Captain Picard through the New Library, Captain Archer was attact by students picketing the Max-Planck-Institute and one student was even caught between Captain Janeway and a very convincing Ferengi. A lot of fun indeed!
So much so that we just HAD to continue film making.
As the Captains: Bernard, Stefan, Christine, Falko, and Alexander. The omnipotent Q was played by Patrick.
BTW, the weather looks sunny and warm in the picture. We actually filmed in January and it was COLD. Those 'uniforms' weren't exactly made for this. Fortunately, all our captains survived this adventure in good health.
