When 2012 ended with the realization how challenging it was to film outside in winter, perhaps we were too exhausted to take in all the wonders that ARE filmmaking. Plus, of course, we had barely begun to understand (and prepare for) what January 2013 would demand of us.
Jule and Stefan, our first wonder-ful couple.
Today, we did our first takes in this new year and ... you know, we talk about the moment of transcendence in popular religion/cultural studies... when you suddenly realize that the people in your team and their actions are so much more...when you just feel blessed by what you are doing but cannot quite tell why.
Two hours for about a page of a script is pretty good (admittedly, not much text). But how we did it! This time, our team is full of true "characters": individuals who celebrate their individuality. Yet, I could feel the harmony, the give and take, the joy of working together, getting that perfect shot.
Like walking backwards with the camera rolling, completely trusting the person who holds your hand to guide you and keep you from falling.
I admit that trust has never come easy to me. How much more wonder-ful is it when you actually experience it without even asking yourself if you should trust or not in the first place.
So, as I cannot tell you more about the project at this point, I CAN tell you that the new year has already brought at least three wonder-ful discoveries of people, their great talents and amazing "group dynamics".
And today was only the first day... can't wait to see what tomorrow will bring.
William & the fries...you'll find out about it ;-)
